BOOKSHELF
Get Fit, Get Smart

New moms——and let’s face it, all moms——usually put themselves last on the priority list, especially when it comes to getting back to pre-baby shape. A new book by San Diegan Lisa Druxman (with Martica Heaner), Lean Mommy: Bond with Your Baby and Get Fit with the Stroller Strides Program (Center Street, $17.99), shows mothers how to exercise with the baby in the stroller. Druxman is the founder of Stroller Strides, established after the birth of her first child.

Psychologist and San Diego State University associate professor Jean M. Twenge has been studying generational differences for 15 years. She turned that research into the book Generation Me (Free Press, $14), an exploration of why people born in the 1970s, 1980s and 1990s are confident, open-minded and ambitious but also cynical, anxious, lonely and depressed.

In The Personality Code (G.P. Putnam’s Sons, $26.95), Travis Bradberry, an organizational psychologist and founder of San Diego–based TalentSmarts, reveals what he knows about the behaviors and strategies that lead to success and fulfillment in life. His insights into human behavior——and how it relates to work and career——are based on his six-year global study of more than half a million people and their personality traits.
