La Jolla Playhouse presented the “Diamonds Are Forever” gala at the
Joan & Irwin Jacobs Center to celebrate its 60th anniversary and honor director emeritus
Des McAnuff. The event was chaired by
Debby Jacobs. The evening included dinner
in the Sheila & Hughes Potiker Theatre, a special tribute to McAnuff and a
performance by
John Lloyd Young, who recently ended his Tony Award–winning run
as Frankie Valli in the original Broadway cast of
Jersey Boys.
FLOWER POWER:
The Magdalena Ecke Family YMCA and
Paul Ecke Ranch hosted the 11th annual Paul Ecke Jr. Poinsettia
Ball in Encinitas to support financial assistance programs
benefiting local families and agencies.

A STERLING SILVER:
St. Germaine Children’s Charity hosted
its annual holiday Silver Tea at the La Jolla home of
William Davidson and
Dawn Kearney Davidson to raise
funds for child abuse prevention programs.

OUT EAST:
The Friends of East County Arts presented
its annual holiday tea at the Ronald Reagan Community
Center to support the development of the fine arts in
greater East San Diego County. 10News anchor

The all-volunteer organization has raised more than
$450,000 for arts-based programs.
FASHION AVENUE MEETS FASHION VALLEY:
New York fashion design icon
Carolina Herrera hosted a
private cocktail party to celebrate the opening of her
new CH Carolina Herrera boutique at Fashion Valley.
The intimate reception was cohosted by Las Patronas,
host of the annual Jewel Ball, San Diego’s most successful
fund-raising tradition.
GRAND OL’ TIME:
Jeanne Jones and
Cathryn Ramirez chaired the Burnham Institute
for Medical Research’s annual gala, “A Toast to the Future,” at The Grand Del Mar, where
350 guests raised more than $1 million. South Dakota philanthropist
T. Denny Sanford
announced his $20 million donation to the institute to establish a program focusing on
